About Us

I Have the Simplest Tastes; I Am Always Satisfied with the Best.

-Oscar Wilde

With over 20 years of experience in fixed prosthodontics, owner and ceramist Jurijs Avots, CDT, personally exercises control over every case that comes through the lab. He is currently working on obtaining his MDT. The above quote exemplifies Jurijs' passion to fabricate his restorations to the highest standard before they are delivered to discriminating clients around the world.

Jurijs graduated from medical school in Latvia, EU with a Diploma in Dental Technology, the equivalent of a Bachelors Degree. He then took a dental laboratory technician position in Riga Stradiņš University, Institute of Stomatology which is the only dental medicine and oral and maxillofacial surgery institution in Latvia that does not only carry out clinical work, but also furthers academic and scientific activity in the field of dentistry. During that time he started taking classes on porcelain and advanced milling and attachment techniques in Germany before moving to Seattle, WA where he is now specializing in comprehensive implants and anterior esthetics.

Jurijs studied for and graduated as a Recognized Specialist from Dr. John Kois’ Kois Center in Seattle, WA. He implements these concepts in his daily work and updates the information every summer at the annual Kois Symposium.

Jurijs has lectured and published with Dr.Chandur Wadhwani and Dr.Alfonso Pineyro on screw-retained implant crowns, talking about managing the esthetic and occlusal challenges of screw access channel closure and providing laboratory solutions to deal with that issue. Many clinicians have moved away from using screw retention as a means of fixing a crown to an implant in favor of cementation to an underlying abutment, but a link has been established between peri-implant disease and excess cement extrusion in cement-retained implant restorations.
